Fitness is feeling good from the inside out!
As a working mom, being fit isn’t always easy. When you are crazy busy balancing life, there are 100 easy excuses to avoid lacing up and going for it. I get it!
After training at elite levels throughout my life, I have had moments of burnout where I did not even want to hear the word gym! When competitive sport ended, I yo-yo’d around between limited working out, or hardcore following trends.
Now that I am 40, (yes, the 40’s are here) I have learned to view fitness more holistically and sustainably. You know, the whole picture kinda way, with balance and community in mind.
I like good tunes and to focus on what I want to achieve in that hour or less, and then I hit it! I am a firm believer in mixing it up. For example, Sometime I do a solid stretch and a light “run” with my dog (I never walk) other times it’s a crazy sprint, where I am flushed in the face and mushing Otis to go faster. (Just kidding, I can’t run faster than my dog!) Other times I attend local fitness classes and meet new friends, or go with my teammates or hubby! Sometimes it’s cardio until I want to puke, other days it’s a light sweat or at-home ab workout. I have never loooooved weights, but I understand their importance, especially as I age and lose muscle mass.
I believe that fitness also provides mental clarity. Working out, even for a short time, is great for clearing and refreshing the mind. It’s a part of my routine and is always my precious “me time” and the absolute answer to living my best, and longest life for my daughters.
Fitness will forever be in my life. It’s a constant “moving” part of who I am. Fitness will forever be in my life, and needs to be a moving is a part of who I am. Today, leading the Move2Give tribe, we have even made working out together part of our community. Working out with my colleagues has helped to build comradery and goals outside of Rodan + Fields alone. Move2Give is all about achieving goals, which do include sales and financial freedom goals, but also feeling amazing about the body you are in and life you are living.
“Nothing changes if nothing changes” is a great way to look at fitness – and every small change, just like each and every rep, counts. If you want that healthy heart from the inside out, set goals, seek out a supportive community, keep things fresh, and always remember your why for doing it!
